New Capital Facility Funding Available to More Types of Organizations

The Washington State Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development (CTED) is launching a new capital facilities funding program, called "Building Communities". CTED administers capital facilities funding for local governments and community nonprofits with three competitive grant programs, as well as targeted capital facilities grants introduced by the Governor or the Legislature. The Building Communities program is replacing the Community Services Facilities program, widening the range of agencies able to apply for these funds. Nonprofit agencies and Tribal programs addressing unmet critical needs for low-income communities or distressed areas are eligible to apply. Local government agencies are not eligible. The focus of this funding is on capital building projects and technical assistance in workforce training, housing, social services, and some education and recreation programs. Application materials for the 2009-2011 Building for the Arts and Youth Recreational Facilities grant programs are now available on the CTED website. See http://www.cted.wa.gov for more information.

Application materials are not yet finalized for the new Building Communities program, however information will be posted here as soon as those materials become available. At SparrowHawk, we can help you determine how your programs may be eligible for these funds. Call us at 1-800-398-9048, or send an email to info@sparrowhawkco.com.
